Step 01

Provide Your
Hiring Needs.

Most companies budget for recruiting fees they never get back. S2S works differently. We plug into your existing headcount model through Department of War SkillBridge. Your intern is a producing team member from week one, not a cost center.

Tell us what you need. We identify military candidates with the leadership, tech aptitude, and AI literacy to match your org, not just fill a seat.

"Our average partner sees roles filled twice as fast and a 65% reduction in recruiting costs."
Step 1
1
Step 02

We Do The
Matchmaking.

The biggest hiring mistake companies make is interviewing candidates who aren't ready. We eliminate that problem entirely. Every S2S candidate arrives AI-fluent, sales-trained, and coached specifically for your environment.

By the time you meet them, they've already been vetted, trained, and prepared to run outreach on day one. You're not evaluating potential. You're confirming fit.

"Partners like Blume and RCS reported 75% hire conversion from internship to full-time roles."
Step 2
2
Step 03

Launch Your
Program.

Think of it as a 90-day proof of concept, except the proof is pipeline. Your S2S intern joins your sales team remotely, building real meetings and revenue while you evaluate fit in real time.

Annual subscription pricing means it fits cleanly into your existing budget. No surprise recruiter invoices, no per-placement fees. A predictable model that scales with your hiring goals.

"S2S partners average 8x ROI and $200K+ pipeline generated per intern during the program."
Step 3

Why Partners Keep Coming Back
"We don't think of it as hiring veterans. We think of it as accessing a talent pool our competitors can't find, and getting 90 days to prove it before we commit."

Our Core Belief

Sales Is the Bridge
Between Service
and Success.

Every service member who transitions from public service into the private sector already has the mindset, discipline, and leadership it takes to succeed in business. Our job is to show them how to apply those skills in the world of B2B sales.

We exist to redefine what "sales" means for the military community: not persuasion, but purpose. It's about helping people solve problems through meaningful relationships and measurable results. That belief drives everything we do, and it's why S2S exists.

How We Work

Three Guiding Principles.

1

Train With
Intention

Sales is a craft. We partner with John Barrows, Pavilion, and Salesforce to deliver elite training, including AI fluency, that challenges every assumption about what veterans can do in a modern sales environment.

2

Match With
Purpose

We don't place candidates. We position them. Every transition is unique, so our team aligns each candidate's skills, values, and goals with the right partner company. Every placement is strategic.

3

Focus On
Results

A 3–4 month structured internship is a proof of performance. Our candidates build real pipeline, real relationships, and real results that lead to full-time offers before they ever leave the military.

Answers Up Front

Frequently Asked
Questions.

Is this program only focused on sales roles?
We focus on GTM roles.

While a large focus is on sales careers, Service 2 Software can also help you explore other civilian career paths that leverage your military skills and experience. We work with veterans to identify their transferable skills and connect them with companies in various roles including marketing, sales, customer success, and beyond.

How long is the Service 2 Software SkillBridge?
It depends on your agreement.

The program duration depends on your SkillBridge agreement with your military branch. We offer flexible program options ranging from 3 to 6 months, allowing you to gain valuable skills and real-world experience before transitioning to civilian life.

What certifications will I earn in this program?
The proven ability to sell is all you need — and we guarantee that experience.

Every candidate earns the Salesforce Agentblazer AI Champion 2026 certification, and our program equips you with the skills and knowledge to pursue additional industry-recognized certifications in sales, enablement, customer success, and more. You’ll receive comprehensive training from world-class, industry-leading trainers like JB Sales, Pavilion, and Salesforce.

What type of companies can I expect to work with?
Our focus is technology companies, specifically software-as-a-service (SaaS).

We partner with a diverse range of companies across various industries, including Fortune 500 firms, start-ups, and mid-sized businesses. We focus on matching your skills and interests with the right company culture and career opportunities.

What are the average salaries of sales jobs?
Our partners offer competitive base salaries and commission structures.

Entry-level sales salaries vary by company, industry, and location. Our program equips you to compete for positions with starting base salaries from $50,000 to $60,000 per year — and with commission on top, average Year 1 on-target earnings (OTE) of $80,000 to $90,000. Sky’s the limit in sales.

Do you help me get a job upon transition?
Yes — one-on-one career coaching for every candidate.

You will never apply for a job in Service 2 Software. Our fundamental principles help you land your next career through your ability to sell. We provide comprehensive career development resources, including resume generation, pipeline generation, interview coaching, and access to our exclusive veteran network. Our mentors and coaches remain available throughout your search.

How to Get a SkillBridge
Internship in Sales

You've led teams, hit missions, and stayed cool under pressure. Now it's time to channel that into a high-impact career in tech sales, and SkillBridge is your launchpad.

SkillBridge lets you spend your last 180 days of active duty preparing for your next chapter. If you're serious about landing a six-figure sales role before your military exit, here's how to lock in the right internship.

Step 1: Understand the Mission

Not all SkillBridge programs are created equal. If you want real-world sales experience, mentorship, and a network that helps you get hired (not just "shadow" hours), focus on private-sector partners with strong placement rates.

Look for internships that:

  • Specialize in B2B tech in high-growth sectors
  • Offer world-class sales training and live calls, not fluff
  • Have pathways to full-time employment contingent upon offers
  • Are built by veterans or transition experts

Step 2: Check Your Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • Be within 180 days of separation or retirement
  • Have command approval
  • Have no pending legal or disciplinary issues
  • Be able to complete the program before your EAS / ETS
  • Have a post-military, money-motivated mentality

Most companies will also want your LinkedIn, resume, and a quick interview. Treat it like a real job hunt.

Step 3: Secure Command Approval

This part takes hustle. Every branch has slightly different steps, but most require:

  • Approval through a sales-focused SkillBridge program
  • A detailed training plan
  • MOA/MOU with the host company
  • Supervisor or CO sign-off

Pro tip: use a provider who will guide you through the approval process. The less friction for your chain of command, the better.

Step 4: Get Matched & Get to Work

Once approved, you'll begin your internship. The best internships are fully remote, flexible, and built to train you on tech sales fundamentals: outbound outreach, pipeline building, CRM workflows, and closing deals.

And if you pick the right program, you won't just train. You'll leave with a job offer in hand.

Final Word

SkillBridge isn't a break. It's the blueprint for your future. This isn't a 100%-commission consumer sales gig. This is a professional career. If you want a career that pays well, rewards performance, and gives you purpose, sales is the door. Now it's up to you to walk through it.

Top 10 SkillBridge
Myths Debunked

SkillBridge is one of the most powerful tools for transitioning service members, but there's a lot of bad intel floating around. Let's set the record straight.

Myth #1: "SkillBridge is only for project management or logistics."

False. SkillBridge spans every industry: tech, finance, marketing, healthcare. If you want a six-figure sales role, you're not out of luck; you're just not looking in the right places.

Myth #2: "It's too late to apply."

Wrong. As long as you're within 180 days of separation and can get command approval, you still have time. Some companies even fast-track approvals if your timeline's tight.

Myth #3: "It's basically a vacation from my military day job."

Not if you're doing it right. The best programs put you to work on real deals, with real training and real accountability. Your SkillBridge should be focused on performance. That's what leads to full-time employment.

Myth #4: "You can't get paid."

You still earn your full military pay and benefits during SkillBridge. Some programs even help you secure job offers so your paycheck doesn't skip a beat after ETS. Go into sales and you get a head start on building your pipeline. Earning commission on day one as a full-time employee.

Myth #5: "Command will never approve it."

Plenty of leaders support SkillBridge when you bring them a solid plan. The key is reducing friction. Show how the program benefits you and the unit.

Myth #6: "Remote internships aren't allowed."

Not true. Many branches approve remote programs if they're structured, supervised, and deliver measurable outcomes. Tech sales internships especially tend to be remote-friendly.

Myth #7: "Only officers get accepted."

Plenty of enlisted service members transition through SkillBridge successfully. It's about your initiative, not your rank, and approvals are often smoother for enlisted members.

Myth #8: "You need a degree."

You need grit, coachability, and drive, not a college diploma. Some of the best sales reps came straight from the military with zero corporate background. That's exactly what sales hiring managers want: veterans and athletes.

Myth #9: "It's not worth the paperwork."

If skipping six months of job applications and landing a $100K+ role straight out of the military isn't worth it, we don't know what is.

Myth #10: "It won't lead to a real job."

That depends on where you go. Some SkillBridge programs are box-checkers. Others, like those built by veterans, for veterans, exist to get you hired.

Bottom Line

Don't let myths keep you stuck. SkillBridge is your best chance to make a clean, confident leap into the civilian world, with real industry connections, and without starting from scratch.

7 Mistakes Veterans Make
When Applying to SkillBridge

You only get one shot at SkillBridge. It can be the difference between scrambling after separation or stepping into a six-figure role with confidence. But too many service members make avoidable mistakes that cost them time, approvals, and real opportunity.

Here are seven common missteps, and how to steer clear of them.

1. Waiting Too Long to Start

You don't need to be 180 days out to start planning. Waiting until the last minute puts pressure on your command and limits your options. Start exploring SkillBridge partners 6–8 months before your terminal leave.

2. Picking the Wrong Program

Not all SkillBridge programs are built the same. Some just give you busy work or "shadow time." Others hand you real sales training, pipeline experience, and job offers. Choose a program with verified outcomes, especially if you want to break into software sales.

3. Skipping the Chain of Command

Too many veterans get excited about a program and skip the most important step: getting their command on board early. The smoother the paperwork and communication, the more likely your approval gets greenlit.

4. Underestimating the Paperwork

The SkillBridge process isn't rocket science, but it does require a plan: MOUs, training outlines, point-of-contact info, and often a few briefings. Don't wing it. Partner with a provider that walks you through each step.

5. Thinking It's a Vacation

SkillBridge isn't a six-month breather before civilian life. Treat it that way and you'll walk away with no job, no direction, and useless certifications. The best internships stretch you. Real calls, real goals, real prep for civilian success.

6. Not Clarifying Expectations

Before you join a program, get clarity on what you're doing day to day. Will you be learning real sales systems? Taking live calls? Working in a CRM? Or just observing? And who are the companies you'll be interning with on day one? The answer determines whether this is a launchpad or a paperweight.

7. Not Owning the Outcome

You get out what you put in. Don't rely on a program to carry you across the finish line. Top performers treat SkillBridge like a job, because it is. They show up early, ask for feedback, and treat every day like an interview.

Final Take

SkillBridge can be a game-changer, but only if you approach it with the same intentionality and intensity you brought to the military. Avoid these pitfalls and you'll land faster, higher, and with purpose.

Can You Accept a Job Offer
While on SkillBridge?

You're in a SkillBridge internship. You've crushed your training, earned the team's respect, and now you've got a job offer on the table. So… can you take it?

Short answer: yes, you can accept a job offer during SkillBridge. In fact, that's the point.

What the Rules Actually Say

SkillBridge is designed to help you transition smoothly into a civilian job. Accepting an offer while you're still on active duty is 100% allowed. You're not signing a contract that starts tomorrow. You're lining up your next mission.

You can:

  • Accept a verbal or written job offer
  • Sign an offer letter with a future start date (usually post-ETS)
  • Coordinate onboarding tasks as long as they don't interfere with your duties or Department of War guidelines
  • Walk into a full-time job with an established sales pipeline

You can't:

  • Start drawing a second paycheck while still receiving full military compensation
  • Begin working outside the scope of your approved SkillBridge training plan
  • Conduct another SkillBridge program while in an existing program

Bottom line: accept the job. Just don't double-dip or break the terms of your internship.

Why Employers Extend Offers Early

If you're in the right SkillBridge program, the employer is already vetting you as a potential hire. They're testing for coachability, communication, and performance, not just attendance. The best internships are designed to get you trained, plugged into an industry network, and hired before your uniform is even off.

So if you're offered a role, it means you're winning. Take the W.

How to Lock It In

  • Confirm your ETS date and availability
  • Ask for a written offer with a clear start date. Find programs with offers contingent on consistent performance
  • Notify your SkillBridge supervisor and chain of command. Transparency wins
  • Begin planning your transition timeline

You can even coordinate onboarding sessions right after separation, so you hit the ground running.

Final Word

SkillBridge isn't just about experience. It's about employment. If you get a job offer during your internship, the system is working. Accept it with confidence, finish strong, and step into your next role already ahead of the curve.

If you're active duty and thinking about SkillBridge, timing is everything. You don't want to miss your shot because you started too late or got buried in red tape. So how long does the SkillBridge process actually take? Here's the full breakdown, from first inquiry to final day.

Step 1: Research & Application (2–4 Weeks)

Identify the right program, build a solid resume, maybe do a quick interview, and align with a provider that matches your goals, ideally in tech sales or high-growth fields.

Timeline tip: start this step 6–8 months before your ETS. That gives you breathing room to explore top-tier programs without rushing, and potentially start the program's required training.

Step 2: Command Approval (2–6 Weeks)

This is where the real clock starts ticking. You'll need:

  • An acceptance letter from an approved SkillBridge program
  • Proof the company has an approved SkillBridge MOU/MOA
  • Sign-off from your command and legal/HR

The pace here depends on your unit. Some commands move fast; others need multiple signatures and review rounds. Proactive over-communication is key.

Step 3: SkillBridge Execution (Up to 180 Days)

Once approved, you can begin your internship. Most programs run 8 to 18 weeks depending on the curriculum and your ETS date.

Timeline tip: start early enough to complete the internship before your final out-processing. Don't risk overlapping dates.

Step 4: Transition & Onboarding (Final 2–4 Weeks)

If you've crushed your internship, you should already have a job offer, or at least be in final interviews. Use the last few weeks to lock in your start date, square away onboarding paperwork, and plan your relocation or remote setup. This stage isn't officially part of SkillBridge, but it's where the payoff happens.

Total Time: 6–8 Months

From application to completion, expect a 6 to 8-month journey. The more proactive you are, the smoother (and faster) it goes.

Bottom Line

SkillBridge is your transition runway, but it won't build itself. Start early, stay locked in, and you'll land your next role with confidence, not chaos.

How to Qualify for SkillBridge
(With Timeline)

If you want to land a SkillBridge internship that actually gets you hired, you need to know two things: how to qualify, and when to move. This isn't something you figure out at the last minute. Here's how to get squared away early so you can launch your next mission with confidence.

Who Qualifies for SkillBridge?

The Department of War has clear guidelines:

  • You must be on active duty
  • You must be within 180 days of separation or retirement
  • You must have completed at least 180 continuous days of active service
  • You must secure command approval
  • You must complete the internship before your final out

Translation: if you're in your final six months and in good standing, you qualify. But that doesn't mean you're automatically in.

Timeline to SkillBridge Approval

6–8 Months Out: Recon Phase

  • Research programs that align with your goals (tech sales, software, etc.)
  • Update your LinkedIn profile. This is where the tech industry lives
  • Update your resume (less important than LinkedIn)
  • Start networking with approved SkillBridge programs

6 Months Out: Lock It In

  • Choose your program and lock in the internship offer. Good programs have companies on standby, ready to interview you
  • Begin paperwork: MOA/MOU, training plan, approval forms
  • Talk to your chain of command about timelines

Pro tip: use a provider who helps you prep paperwork. Good programs have SkillBridge coordinators. It saves you (and your CO) a ton of friction.

5 Months Out: Submit + Follow Up

  • Submit final paperwork for command review
  • Coordinate with legal, HR, and your supervisor
  • Stay proactive and follow up. This is where things can stall

4 Months Out: Go Time

  • Start your SkillBridge internship if approved
  • Begin training, shadowing, and sales execution

Even if you're behind, some programs can still work with tight timelines, but don't count on it.

Key Don'ts

  • Don't wait until 90 days out to start the process
  • Don't assume command will say yes without context
  • Don't pick a program that can't walk you through paperwork
  • Don't pick a program with cohort starts if your timeline is already condensed

Final Word

SkillBridge is your edge, but only if you plan for it. If you're serious about landing a high-paying civilian role without wasting months applying post-ETS, get qualified early and choose a program that does more than check the box. Your future deserves more than a half-baked plan.

SkillBridge vs. Career Fellowship:
Which Is Right for You?

You're six months from separation, and two options are on the table: SkillBridge or a Department of War Career Fellowship. Both offer a bridge into civilian life, but they are not the same mission. If you're serious about landing a high-paying job in tech sales or another competitive field, here's how to know which path gives you the edge.

What Is SkillBridge?

SkillBridge is a Department of War-approved program that allows you to work with a civilian company during your final 180 days of active duty. You train, gain experience, and (if you're in the right program) walk away with a job offer.

  • Choose your provider
  • Works across industries
  • Offers real-world, private-sector experience
  • High flexibility: remote options, full-time training, and more

What Is a Career Fellowship?

Career Fellowships are typically run through the Department of War or federal agencies (like Hiring Our Heroes). They pair you with public- or private-sector employers for a 12-week internship near the end of service.

  • Centralized application process
  • May be more structured or limited in scope
  • Often focused on federal or corporate admin roles
  • No guaranteed internship opportunities

Which One Should You Pick?

Choose SkillBridge if:

  • You want to break into a high-performance field like tech sales
  • You want flexibility to train remotely or full-time
  • You want control over your placement and outcome

Choose a Career Fellowship if:

  • You want to stay in federal, admin, or white-collar roles
  • You prefer a structured, government-managed experience
  • You're comfortable with less customization

Bonus Tip

Some veterans start with a Career Fellowship and realize they need more hands-on training. That's where SkillBridge shines, especially programs built by veterans, for veterans.

Final Word

This isn't just about staying busy during your transition. It's about launching into the right career with the right training. If you want freedom, flexibility, and job placement that works, SkillBridge wins every time.

Career Path

Why Sales as a
Career Path?

If you're transitioning out of the military and wondering what comes next, here's the truth: sales isn't a fallback plan. It's a fast track. Especially if you're wired for growth, mission, results, and impact.

Sales Rewards Performance

Unlike most jobs where you get paid the same no matter how hard you work, sales flips the script. If you produce, you get rewarded. Fast. Six-figure roles in your first year aren't rare. They're expected.

That means your military mindset of discipline, grit, and structure becomes your competitive advantage. You walk into these roles with salaries and benefits packages in addition to your commission structure. This is a lot different than consumer sales (think car lots).

Sales Is About Solving Problems

Forget the stereotype of pushy salespeople. Great salespeople are focused on listening, identifying needs, and offering the right solution. It's mission planning meets human connection.

If you've led teams or handled complex logistics under pressure, you already have the skills. You just need to learn how to use them in a new context.

The Tech Industry Is Booming (Including AI)

Tech companies are growing fast and hiring faster. But they don't just need engineers. They need reps who can connect, influence, and close. That's where you come in:

  • High base salaries + uncapped commission
  • Remote and flexible roles
  • Clear upward mobility into leadership

It's one of the few career paths where your income, your growth, and your impact are all directly tied to how hard you work.

You Don't Need a Degree. You Need Drive.

Most tech sales roles don't require a college degree. They require hunger, humility, and hustle. Veterans who lean in, get trained, and show up coachable can outperform candidates with MBAs.

If you can communicate clearly, follow a proven process, and bounce back from setbacks, you can thrive in sales.

The Fastest Route to a $100K+ Civilian Role

Sales is one of the only career paths where you can earn more in your first year out of uniform than you did after 10+ years of service. No long apprenticeships. No years of debt. Just skill, speed, and strategy.

And the best part? You can start while you're still on active duty through the Department of War SkillBridge program.

Final Word

Sales isn't just a job. It's a launchpad. If you want a career with purpose, performance, and payoff, sales is the door. All you have to do is knock.
